- Before Title IX, there were about 32,00 women participating in college sports, and in 2011, there were 150,000 women participating- a gain of over 400%!
- Before Title IX, women were 2% of college students participating in sports. In 2011, women were 43% of college students participating in sports.
- From before Title IX to 2011, the percent of women participating in high school sports is a gain of over 800%! That is going form 7% to over 41%!
- There is a clothing store for women called Title Nine
- Women who do sports: have higher grades than students who don't, have lower drop out rates, are more likely to graduate from college, are less likely to do drugs, and have lower pregnancy rates
Title IX work is Not Done
- Schools are providing 1.3 million fewer chances for girls to play sports in high school compared to boys
- More than half of the students at NCAA schools are women, but they receive only 44% of the athletic opportunities
- Female athletes at the typical Division I-FBS school receive 28% of the total money spent on athletics, 31% of the recruiting dollars, and 42% of athletic scholarship dollars
- Men coach 57% of women sport teams, yet hardly any women coach men sport teams
- There are 15 full scholarships available to women, yet there are 98 full scholarships available to men
